IMILOA PRESENTS

A 5-day retreat to develop intentionality in your identities, allowing you to be you on purpose.

Jul 12 – 17, 2024

Jul 12 – 17, 2024

ABOUT THE RETREAT

This retreat guides you in developing the skills required to purposefully be yourself; first, rooting in curiosity; second, honing self-awareness; and lastly, cultivating grounding and purposefulness. Sessions will invite you to consider your identity in a variety of contexts, creating space for you to bring intention and groundedness to your experience.

While many of us are able to name our identities, far more challenging is the endeavor of explaining them, understanding them, and then expressing them purposefully in every moment of our lives. Developing intentionality in our identities brings deep peace and purpose. Why are you who you are? How do you meaningfully engage with who you are? How does who you are show up in everything you do?

ALIGN brings these questions to the forefront. With the social-ecological model as a framework, you will be asked to consider your identities in the context of society at large, in group and company settings, interpersonally, and individually. Sessions will guide you through investigating and interrogating your belief systems, your conception of your adulthood, and your gender experience at each of these levels.

Once we've allowed curiosity to create space surrounding your identities, sessions will help you question yourself with compassion and safety. Workshops will equip you with the skills to develop intentionality: You will leave the retreat with a deeper understanding of yourself and how you engage with being yourself.

Lastly, recognizing that we are always evolving, ALIGN will provide you with methods to continually re-evaluate your own understanding of yourself so that you may continue growing wherever you are.

Testimonials

“I was able to grow and become the man I was meant to be. I was given the tools to heal a lot of residual trauma from systematic racism, misogyny and toxic masculinity, and internalized transphobia. Working together really helped me transition more smoothly into society as my authentic self.

- Kooshan,

“I would recommend [Schuyler] to anybody that was as overwhelmed as I was with not only identity-related internal conflicts but other deep personal issues with self-confidence and trust, etc.

- Quewon.

“II liked that Schuyler provided a very welcoming space to talk about anything… seriously anything. Every week I had a list of things that I wanted to address and resolve and every session was met with insight, reflection, and exercises to help me combat whatever situations were in my way.

- Landon, 21, trans man, USA.

“I would recommend [Schuyler] to anyone who needs mentorship. [Schuyler has] multiple ways of helping with problems or issues, from offering tactical solutions to more emotional support.

- Oliver, 18, transgender man, USA.
